Pokhara is not just the adventure capital of Nepal; it’s also a paragliding haven. Paragliding here offers an unparalleled opportunity to glide above the breathtaking landscapes of the Annapurna Range and Phewa Lake. With the majestic peaks of the Himalayas as a backdrop and the serene lake below, Pokhara provides an extraordinary flying experience for both beginners and seasoned paragliders.
Your paragliding adventure starts at Sarangkot, which is famous for offering the best views of Pokhara. Sarangkot sits at an elevation of around 1,600 meters and is the launching point for most paragliding flights. After a short drive to the hilltop, you will be briefed by your professional guide, who will walk you through the safety procedures and give you tips for controlling the paraglider.
As you take off, you’ll feel the surge of excitement as you gently lift off the ground and begin to soar into the sky. The calm thermals will carry you higher, offering an extraordinary view of Pokhara below. You’ll glide over Phewa Lake, the sprawling city, and the forested hills, with the majestic Annapurna and Machapuchare peaks providing a stunning backdrop. The flight usually lasts about 20-30 minutes, depending on weather conditions, but it’s long enough to fully appreciate the beauty around you.
If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s even the option to perform a “swing” or “spiral dive” with the instructor, adding an extra thrill to the flight.
