Scenic drive through picturesque landscapes.
Overnight in Dhunche.
The Gosaikunda Trek is a 10-day adventure that takes trekkers to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, located high in the Langtang National Park of Nepal. This trek is revered for its cultural significance and the stunning natural beauty of the Himalayan landscape. Gosaikunda, also known as the “Frozen Lake,” is considered one of the holiest lakes in Nepal for both Hindus and Buddhists. Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit the lake, especially during the Janai Purnima festival in August, to pay homage to Lord Shiva, who, according to legend, created the lake with his trident.
This trek offers a perfect combination of spirituality, cultural immersion, and spectacular mountain scenery. The trail passes through lush forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo, quaint Tamang villages, and alpine meadows, all while providing breathtaking views of the Langtang Himalayan range, including peaks like Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Ganesh Himal (7,422m), and Dorje Lakpa (6,966m). The highlight of the trek is reaching Gosaikunda, a stunning glacial lake sitting at an elevation of 4,380 meters. During the winter months, the lake remains frozen, creating an awe-inspiring landscape.
The Gosaikunda Trek is ideal for those looking for a relatively short trekking experience with moderate difficulty. Along the way, trekkers will have the opportunity to witness the rich culture and traditions of the Tamang and Sherpa communities, visit ancient monasteries, and enjoy panoramic views of the majestic Himalayas.
The best times to trek the Gosaikunda Trail are in the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These periods offer stable weather conditions, clear skies, and optimal trekking conditions.
