About Lobuche peak climbing;
Lobuche East Peak, at an elevation of 6119 meters, is an exciting and challenging way to upgrade your Clazzic Everest Base Camp. Trekking with a beautiful climb in the centre of the Khumbu Valley of Nepal. Though less relatively as high as Island Peak (6189m), Lobuche East Peak Climbing is technically more challenging. Lobuche Peak is a genuine 6000m mountaineering experience requiring basic knowledge of rock and ice climbing techniques at high altitudes.
Lobuche peak climbing trip facts;
Lobuche East is a favourite because of the exceptional panorama seen from the summit: Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Lobuche, Ama Dablam, Makalu and notably, a fantastic view of Mount Everest, which is not visible from Island Peak. Lobuche consists of several small summits, but ‘Lobuche Peak’ refers to Lobuche East rather than Lobuche West, a different and more difficult peak. The popular route to Lobuche East is from the south ridge.
Lobuche peak climbing route;
Our Lobuche East Peak Climbing starts with the Everest Base Camp Trekking, which in itself is a splendid trekking trail through beautiful forests, Sherpa villages and monasteries with endless great views of the Khumbu Mountains. Proper acclimatization is essential for Lobuche East Peak Climbing and trekking the Everest Base Camp. Kala Patthar first provides the perfect preparation for a carefully paced climb of Lobuche East Peak.
After reaching Everest Base Camp and the famous Kala Patthar, from where we enjoy the fantastic view of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori and other mountains, we return to Lobuche village, the trailhead for Lobuche Peak Climb. The trail up the valley from Lobuche becomes increasingly steep and rocky as we near the Lobuche Base Camp, 4950m. From Base Camp, we clamour over steep stone terraces and snowy slopes using fixed ropes to reach the ridge along the southwest face where we set up High Camp, 5600m. We get superb views of Amadablam, Cholaste, Thamserku, Kantega Peak and Tawache Peak on the way.
Lobuche peak climbing summit day;
To reach the summit from High Camp, we cross over steep stone slabs, which may be covered with ice and snow. We must ascend 50m on a 45-degree snow wall to reach the proper summit ridge. We use fixed ropes. The sharp snowy ridge to the first summit is exposed. There is a descent which you may need to rappel down before the final sharp ascent to the summit. We acknowledge an incredible view of some of the most splendid mountains on earth from the summit.
Best time to climb Lobuche peak climbing ;
The best season for Lobuche East Peak Climbing is from March to May (Spring) and September to November (Autumn). However, the winter is also a great time to climb if you are well prepared for the cold weather. In the crisp and cold month of December, the views of the mountains are crystal clear, and there are fewer tourists around. The duration of the Lobuche East Peak Climbing can be lengthened or shortened according to your preference. Lobuche peak climbing difficulty level;
Climbing Lobuche East Peak is moderately challenging. However it does have some technical sections and does require trekking and mountaineering skills. It lies at an altitude of 6119 meters and requires climbers to be physically fit for the successful ascent to the summit. Initially, the climbers will take the route of Everest Base Camp, trekking through the diverse terrains, and then start the climb from Lobuche Base Camp to High Camp and to the summit, which requires a good level of strength and knowledge about navigating through the steep terrains.
Permits required for Lobuche peak climbing;
For your visit to Nepal and transit in protected regions, you will need to pay extra entry fees. As a foreigner entering Nepal, you will initially need a visa. If you are an Indian national, you won’t need to do anything. But, every other foreign national needs a visa from the embassy of Nepal.
To obtain a Nepal arrival visa, you must fill out an online application. The cost of your visa is determined by how long you plan to stay in Nepal. The following fees apply to the on-arrival visa:
A 15-day arrival visa costs $30.
A 30-day entry visa costs $50.
90-day entry visa costs $125.
Our trip to Lobuche will take about 19 days. Thus, you must select the “30-day” staying option. That will set you back USD 50.
Together with a visa, specific area permits are required to climb the Lobuche mountain. For the Lobuche expedition, three permissions are required. The Sagarmatha National Park permit is the first one. You must pay USD 30 for this license. If you are a citizen of the SAARC you might be able to purchase the permit for USD 15.

Are you planning your dream trip to the Himalaya of Nepal? Make sure you have packed well for your hiking, trekking and climbing experiences in Nepal. The time period of your visit also determines your packing list. The best trekking seasons for beginning your Lobuche East Peak Climbing are spring and autumn. During these seasons, maximum flow of trekkers can be witnessed. Weather during spring (March – May) and autumn (September – November) are likely to be mild with clear blue sky and outstanding mountain views. But nights can get freezing cold at higher elevation. A strategically way of packing will be keeping in mind that your stuffs will be packed in two bags. One will be the daypack that you carry every day on your trek. Pack your daypack as light as possible by carrying only the essentials so that you can relish your moments in wilderness freely. Pack anything you may need each day during your hike in your daypack. Other bag will be your duffle bag which will be carried by your Porter from the very beginning of your trek till the end.
