Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a guide or can I trek solo?
While it is technically possible to trek solo, hiring a licensed guide is highly recommended. A guide provides safety, navigation assistance, cultural insights, and support during emergencies. Our experienced guides ensure you have the best experience while staying safe at altitude.
What permits are required for the trek?
You will need two main permits: the Sagarmatha National Park Permit (NRS 3,000 for SAARC nationals, NRS 3,000 for others) and the TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card. Both are included in our package price.
What are the accommodation and food options?
Along the trail, you will stay in tea houses and lodges that provide basic but comfortable accommodation with twin-sharing rooms. Food options include Nepali, Tibetan, and some continental dishes. Dal Bhat (lentil soup with rice) is a popular and energizing meal for trekkers.
How can I prepare for the trek?
Start cardiovascular training 3–6 months before the trek. Include hiking, running, and cycling. Practice trekking with a loaded backpack on varied terrain. Consult your doctor about altitude sickness medication (Diamox) and ensure you have all necessary vaccinations.
Is travel insurance necessary?
Yes, travel insurance is absolutely mandatory. Your policy must cover high-altitude trekking up to 6,000m and include emergency helicopter evacuation coverage. Medical evacuation from the Himalayas can cost tens of thousands of dollars without insurance.
What are the symptoms of altitude sickness?
Common symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and loss of appetite. Severe cases (HACE/HAPE) involve difficulty walking, confusion, and severe shortness of breath. The golden rule: never ascend if experiencing symptoms. Descend immediately if symptoms worsen.
